Cinema Daze

Last Friday I finally got to see Blade Runner: The Final Cut, and weeeooowwwwwww, this thing is awesome. I was completely delighted with it while being more than aware that reason was abandoned long ago concerning the addition of more versions of this film. I mean, this makes what, the fifth released cut? It's all good as far as my obsession is concerned, and this was without a doubt the most painstakingly beautiful instantiation of them all.

I haven't gotten very far in the Blade Runner: Workprint, but I did like the opening reference from the New American Dictionary copyright 2016.

Also saw Patlabor 2: The Movie for the first time Friday, and was blown away. I loved Patlabor: The Movie and expected more of the same, but the sequel surprised me by being more broadly political with occasional philosophical ponderings. Oshii's visual brilliance makes it a treat throughout. (Note: I opted for the Japanese 5.1 w/subtitles; I sampled the dub and it just didn't do the story justice.)

Finished watching Inception with my wife last night, and she agreed it was an awesome movie. Once again, I was floored by Zimmer's score. I can't imagine that film without his music. The performances from all and Nolan's craftsmanship putting it together are incredible.
